I feel fortunate that people are interested in my running and I’m lucky to be asked plenty of questions.
So, as such, I thought the best thing to do is answer a few of them here.
WHO AM I?
Just a guy who runs!
I’ve run all my life. It’s my thing, my escapism and one of the activities I enjoy doing most.
AM I A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE?
No, I wish.
But, what I would say, is that I live my life with the same discipline, dedication and drive of those that get paid to run.
DO I WORK?
Of course. I’ve worked in sports journalism and the wider media industry for well over a decade. It’s my passion and has never really felt like a job.
WHY MARATHON RUNNING?
Running a marathon is one of life’s great experiences and I want to keep doing it for as long as possible.
WHERE DO I LIVE?
I am currently based in the UK but previously lived in the UAE.
DO I HAVE SPONSORS?
No, not as such.
When I lived in Dubai I was supported by Under Armour Middle East. Their backing was fantastic as the brand supplied me with much-needed training kit and in tandem I represented Under Armour as an ambassador at various running events and meets.
I would also like to express my gratitude to Scandinavian Physiotherapy Center JLT in Dubai. Theo, Alba and the rest of the team looked after me incredibly well and I will always be grateful for their expertise and immense kindness.
While I have been fortunate to have had brilliant opportunities over the years, I am a self-funded marathon runner and pay for everything, from race entry costs to travel and accommodation.
WHAT KIT DO I WEAR?
I still wear mostly Under Armour for race days while I use all sorts in training — including Kalenji running gear. Footwear-wise, I’ve used lots of different makes over the years but have more recently moved from Saucony’s ISO stability shoe to Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36s.
On my wrist, my trusty Garmin Forerunner 35 served me well for many years but I am now running with the 45S product.
HOW OFTEN DO I TRAIN?
Every day is the short answer. I run four to fives time a week in general and combine that with daily strength and conditioning sessions in the gym or at home.
HOW DO I DEAL WITH INJURY?
I put things into perspective and embrace it as a new challenge to try and get back running again quickly! With experience, you learn what your body can and can’t do, and how to look after yourself.
WHAT COACHING / TRAINING EXPERIENCE DO I HAVE?
Plenty — I am a qualified fitness professional and trainer.
Indeed, I have trained people on a one-to-one basis over the past three to four years in Dubai, led running groups and coached specific sessions, ranging from speed work to strength and conditioning classes.
All of the content on this website has been compiled, created and produced by myself, drawing upon my own comprehensive research and first-hand running experiences.

WHAT ARE MY GOALS?
I don’t think you can ever have too many goals, ambitions or targets — it’s healthy to aim big, high and constantly push yourself, in my opinion.
That said, I’ve whittled it down to three here…
Firstly, I want to share my passion for running and help runners, that’s the reason why I set-up this service and website.
Secondly, I’m a big believer that you have to follow and pursue your dreams in your life — and I hope in some way — I can inspire people to run and just go for it.
Over the years, I’ve had a lot of people tell me ‘no, you can’t do that’, ‘that’s ambitious’ etc. However, what I’ve learnt is that no ambition is too big or goal is out of reach. All you can do is back yourself and keep going!
And thirdly, my long-term goal is to become the best runner I can be. I can only achieve this with complete discipline and focus.
I want to help many more charitable causes in the future, and as a marathoner, I believe I can keep chipping away at my finishing times and push towards a 02:40:00 marathon time one day. I also want to run 100 marathons! If you don’t believe, you won’t get there.
WHO INSPIRES ME?
Simple; family and friends as well as my sporting heroes.
